Chloe’s VSO Cycling Challenge
If your resolution for 2015 is to get in shape, travel the world, make new friends and help others, then read on!!
My name is Chloe, Hersham is my home and I live with my 2 boys (3 & 33!). I work FT at Voluntary Services Overseas (a local charity, based in Kingston). I’m in their community fundraising team and though I’d rather be at home with my son, I love what I do.
VSO is a charity that sends volunteers from a range of professions to share their skills with some of the world’s poorest communities. Wherever there is a need, VSO will find a volunteer with the skills to fill it. What is different about us is that these skills don’t come back to the UK when the volunteer does – they stay in Rwanda, Cambodia, Tanzania or any of the 30 countries where we work.
A significant part of my role, is to encourage people to fundraise for VSO by signing up to one of our epic and amazing charity challenges, it could be cycling from London to Paris, to Trekking through majestic Myanmar, we’ve something to suit all abilities.
More often than not, participants are eager to take on the life changing challenge – but are put off by the fundraising targets set, and that is where I come in! I have a wealth of fundraising experience and am not afraid of targets, no matter how big or small, I know that with a participants enthusiasm and my support and encouragement every fundraising target is achievable!
So, if your resolution is to do something extraordinary this year, why not take part in one of the great cycle experiences in Europe?
Cycle London to Paris on the 2nd – 6th September 2015 for VSO.
The fundraising target is an easy peasy £1,350 (50% paying for the cost of your trip and 50% going directly towards VSO!)
Ps – if you are a fair-weather cyclist please don’t be put off, it takes 4 months to train for a challenge like this (loads of time!) so what are you waiting for!
