February Half Term Activities

2018 continues its relentless march with the first Half Term of the year!

We say this every Half Term, Easter and Summer Holiday….but there really is SO much going on locally during the school holidays to suit all budgets!

Its lambing season, there are vintage cars to ride in, puppets, mosaics and arts and crafts, nature trails, train rides, creepy crawlies, planting, and growing, Tudor quests, birds of prey….and many, many more February half term activities to keep your little ones entertained, active and tired out!

Bocketts Farm – February Half Term!

10th – 18th February 2018

Enjoy a great family day out this February Half term with the start of the spring lambing!

  • Over 70 gorgeous new born lambs due in our Big Animal Barn and Lambing Shed
  • Meet the Shepherd in sessions throughout the day. An opportunity to learn all about our sheep and lambs!
  • Birds of Prey flying demonstrations. MONDAY TO FRIDAY ONLY from 11am – 4pm. Flying demonstrations at 12pm and 2pm.



Brooklands Museum

Half Term Family Fun

February 12 to 16 – 10:00 to 16:00

On weekdays during Half Term, the popular car rides will be operating from 11am-1pm and from 2-3.00pm (subject to weather).

Take a trip in a vintage-style car up Test Hill or along the Members’ Banking of the old Race Track, courtesy of the Brooklands Volunteer Car Rides Team.

Also, London Bus Museum will be operating bus rides around the local area.

Explore the new Aircraft Factory which has lots of interactive displays and giant sections of aircraft. There is an upper level too that leads to the Flight Shed where our LIVE aircraft are and you can sit in a cockpit.

Look out for Bertie the Brooklands Bear, who will be making guest appearances, pick up one of our trails for children up to 12 years old or join in with our Half Term family workshop.



Chertsey Museum – February Half Term Fun

Mosaic Madness

13th to 15th February 2018 – 11:00 to 12:00 or 14:00 to 15:00

Create your own mosaic using tiles and gems to make a masterpiece.

Age Range 5 to 12 years (5 year olds must be accompanied by an adult). Advance booking required

£4.50 per child (50p discount for Friends of Chertsey Museum)

Marionette Puppets

15th February 2018 – 11:00 to 12:30 or 14:00 to 15:30

Have a go at making your own string puppet. Then  have fun putting on a puppet show at home!

Age Range 5 to 12 years (5 year olds must be accompanied by an adult). Advance booking required

Claremont Gardens

Invasive Species Trail

10th to 18th February – 10:00 to 16:00

Rediscover the great outdoors this half term with our family friendly trail . Perfect for inquisitive minds and budding adventurers. Come and discover some of Claremont’s invading creatures and where to find them.

Normal Admission Charges plus 50p for the trail.


Half Term Drop In Traditional Crafts

13th and 15th February – 11:00 to 13:00

Come and join us in the thatched cottage for some traditional crafts and see how children entertained themselves before television.

Garsons Farm – Half Term

Planting and Growing

Monday 12th, Wednesday 14th and Friday 16th February 10:00 to 15:00

Visit Garsons this half term and learn how to grow flowers and vegetable from seeds! Choose from broad beans, sunflowers and cress to take home, follow our guide and watch your seeds grow!

Children will also be able to complete a flower hunt for a chance to win some cool prizes!

All activities are free to enter but booking is required.



Ham House

Unlock the secrets of the seventeenth century residents at Ham House this February half term with fun for families and grown-ups alike.

Hampton Court

Heavenly Hampton

10th to 18th February, 11:00-16:00

For half term, Queen Katherine Parr is recruiting young lords and ladies for the courts of King Henry VIII’s children. Do you have what it takes to join Prince Edward and Lady Elizabeth?

There will be singing and dancing as well as the serious skills a Tudor noble needs to make it at Court.

It is 1547 and change is all about. The dark days of winter are past and a bright new spring is on its way. The looming shadow of an increasingly dangerous King Henry VIII is about to be lifted and his home will become once again a palace of fun and romance for his young family.

Join in this half term as Hampton Court Palace comes alive with Tudors. Romance is in the air. Will you discover the preparations for the secret wedding?

The Great Palace Quest

10th to 18th February, 11:00-16:00

The Great Palace Quest is a fun activity trail map that takes families on a time-travelling voyage of discovery exploring Hampton Court Palace searching for the Palace Quest code letters. Work out what our code word is to win your prize!

Collect your quest map at the palace this February half term! Your mission is find out about the court of Queen Katherine Parr and Henry VIII’s children, Prince Edward and Lady Elizabeth. The palace will be filled with beautiful singing, music, dancing and much more!

To help you complete your quest you can:

  • make your own magnificent crown so that you fit right into court life at the palace!
  • try on Tudor costumes in preparation for a celebration
  • meet characters from the past and learn how to be a Tudor prince or princess
  • complete the puzzles and find the locations of the code letters!

Hatchlands Park

February Half Term – Pets in the Park

23rd to 29th October – 10:00 to 17:00

Pile down to Hatchlands this half-term for Pets in the Park.

Discover the story of the non-human inhabitants who’ve ruled the roost here over the years. Follow a trail through the park, enjoy themed treats from the cafe and meet a few furry friends.

This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue.




Half Term at Hobbledown

Monday 12th to 17th February

Whether it’s enjoying our fantastic adventure equipment, learning something at our animal educational talks, or watching Hobbler Show Time, there’s something for the whole family.

You can also enjoy visiting our 400+ animals, meet and greets with our characters, scheduled animal petting times and a guaranteed 90 minutes inside our indoor play barn.

Fresh February Fun

Saturday 10th to Sunday 18th February

From Mid February, the ever-popular Bottle Feeding Kid Goats activity returns! Plus, in the cosy undercover Animal Barns, children will love to join in with our jam-packed programme of Animal Activities and Demonstrations and meet plenty more furry friends, including cute lambs and cheeky kid goats!

Elsewhere on the farm, come along and join in with the fun and excitement of the Entertainers with several shows throughout the day, then get creative by making Arts & Crafts!

Children on a February day out will also love to discover the massive Indoor Play Barn including 4 lane Astra Slide, 2 large drop slides, a netted area with zig zag chicanes & tunnels, swinging ropes and much more, as well as acres of Outdoor Adventure Play to explore! With special Toddler and Under 5’s areas, there’s stacks of fun for all ages. Plus, grown-ups will love to relax in Marmalade’s Tea Room with a coffee and delicious slice of homemade cake!

Wild Woodland Camp

Tuesday 13rd to Thursday 15th February – 09:00 to 16:00

Children can have a wild time in half-term with campfires, bushcraft, wild art, den building activities… and much more! Our Wild Woodland Camp is the perfect way to ensure the children have a fun-filled half-term break!

Tuesday 13th – Cosy Dens

Scout out the perfect woodland spot to build a cosy den before lighting your own fire with fire steels to toast marshmallows. Gather around a big camp fire to warm up your lunches and cosy round with a hot drink.  Explore the woods and take our leaders special “short-cuts” up and down secret paths and forgotten tracks on a wild scavenger hunt with a chance to win treasure!

Wednesday 14th – Winter Feast

A day for playing games and making tasty treats. Journey deep into the woods for a morning of exciting wide woodland games and team challenges. Make friends camouflaging into the forest with extreme hide and seek, capture the flag and other forest favourites.  Build a roaring fire in our outdoor kitchen to cook-up treats including toffee apples, popcorn and campfire doughnuts and mix yourself a whippy-hot chocolate or babycino (with extra marshmallows!)

Thursday 15th – Winter Bushcraft

After spending the morning in the woods exploring and playing, gathering and foraging and tracking animals, you can get down to a creative afternoon of bushcraft. You will have the opportunity to use tools under 1:1 supervision with a Forest School and bushcraft trained instructor to make items out of wood, including mallets, tent pegs and toys. There will also be a chance to have a go at working with willow, cord, wool and weaving, clay or build shelters using rope and tarps.

Children MUST be 8 years to 13 years.

Piglets Playcentre


Tuesday 13th February – 10:00 to 16:00

The lovely Hannah will be with them again this half-term to help your little ones create a masterpiece. Will they make something to keep or a beautiful Valentines gift?

Prices of individual pottery pieces vary, Hannah will be happy to guide you.

No need to book, standard entrance fee applies.

Valentines Day Crafts

Playhouse Parties will be hosting this tactile and interactive workshop for your little one. Join in the fun with musical instruments, story-telling, games, singing and dancing! Ages 0-5 years.

Polesden Lacey

Half-term trail : Surprise Souvenirs

Saturday 10th to 18th February – 10:00 to 15:30

So the secret servants are thrilled when Maggie sends them surprise souvenirs from her exciting travels around Asia. They finally feel that Maggie knows how hard they work.

Follow the trail around the grounds to find out what gifts the secret servants have received – maybe a bonsai tree from Japan or tea from Ceylon or even some beautiful jade jewellery from China.

For children aged 5 – 12

Wild Learning – February half-term

Wednesday the 13th and Thursday the 14th February – 10:15 to 16:15

Wild Learning Holiday Club gives kids the chance to play, learn and explore all day in safe supervised woods.

Den building, wild art, woodland games, tracking and more.

Run by Forest School qualified leaders, Wild Learning clubs are the perfect antitdote to holiday boredom.



Squires Garden Centres

Create & Grow February Half Term

Monday 12th – Friday 16th February October 10am – 4pm at all centres (except Chertsey and Woking)

Keep the little ones entertained this half term with our February Create & Grow event! Drop in from Monday 12 to Friday 16 February to enjoy daily activities between 10am & 4pm.

Terracotta bee plant holder/pen pot. Get busy this half term and paint a beautiful bee which can be used as a plant pot or pen holder for your desk – £4.50.

There will also be a FREE colouring competition and garden treasure hunt for you to take part in where you will receive a sticker and a chance to win a prize!

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Roll up your sleeves and have a go at building your very own den.

Play the day away 
Let off steam in the Wild at Wisley play area.

Wildlife watching
Visit the bird hide and see how many feathered friends you can spot.

Tractors, diggers, rocks, soil and mud….learn all about the wonders of this icky, sticky stuff! We’ve got plenty of magical events for messy kids, from painting and crafts to planting events. Make a seed bomb, paint with mud, make a mud creature and much more.

All workshops are held in the Clore Learning Centre from 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1 – 3.30pm unless otherwise stated.
