Surrey Sculptors to stage major exhibition at the Riverhouse Arts Centre
One of the largest and most successful regional arts organisations in the south – the Surrey Sculpture Society – is to stage a major exhibition of members’ work at the Riverhouse Arts Centre, at Walton-on-Thames from 23rd July until 17th August.
The diversity of sculptural forms created by the members of the society, who range from talented amateurs to top professional sculptors, will be on display at the arts centre within the arts centre’s Robert Phillips Gallery, a purpose built, sky lit gallery space with vaulted ceilings.
This will be the second Surrey Sculpture Society exhibition at the Riverhouse Arts Centre and Mary English, exhibition co-ordinator for the society commented:
“The exhibition is a great opportunity for our members to show their work at this popular arts venue and to create greater awareness of the Surrey Sculpture Society. We are delighted to be staging the exhibition in this spacious and light setting. It’s the perfect environment to show off the diverse range of sculptures created by our members.”
The sculptures on display will reveal the scope of styles and materials used by SSS members, who draw their inspiration from a wide range of subjects including figurative, animal, plant and abstract forms to create highly original pieces using glass, metal, ceramic, bronze, resin, stone, wood and found objects.
