Extremely Vulnerable

Get coronavirus support as an extremely vulnerable person

Register if you have a medical condition that makes you extremely vulnerable to coronavirus. For example, you’ll be able to ask for help getting deliveries of essential supplies like food.

If you’re not sure whether your medical condition makes you extremely vulnerable, register anyway.

The government will be making this information available to supermarkets so you can get priority delivery slots.

Can You Volunteer?

Things are starting to get a bit more joined up and coordinated following the announcement of the creation of local Community Hubs that can distribute food parcels and medication to those 1.5m vulnerable members of all of our communities that have been told to stay isolated for 12 weeks.

If you are in Surrey and would like to volunteer locally please do complete this online form and please clearly specify if you have an adult enhanced DBS.

If you need any kind of support whatsoever, find yourself having to self isolate and need supplies of any kind please try this page from Surrey County Council:

Surrey Council have set up a new community helpline to direct you to services that can help during the coronavirus pandemic.

Community Helpline number: 0300 200 1008 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)

This community phone line is here for two things:

  1. To help direct residents who need support, such as picking up shopping, prescription collections or having someone who can be a telephone friend, to services who can help.
  2. To provide advice on where to register your offer of help to support your community.

The helpline will not be able to provide any public health advice (please use existing services such as 111) or answer general enquiries relating to council services

Meals on Wheels

If you would like to volunteer to support our meals-on-wheels effort please contact us on 01372 474 552 or email commservices@elmbridge.gov.uk.

All meals-on-wheels volunteers must have their own car.

We have included a list of useful links at the end of this post.

Your NHS needs you! Join the team today.

NHS Volunteer Responders has been set up to support the NHS during the COVID-19 outbreak. To do this they need an ‘army’ of volunteers who can support the 1.5m people in England who are at most risk from the virus to stay well. Doctors, nurses and other professionals will be able to refer people in to NHS Volunteer Responders and be confident that they have been matched with a reliable, named volunteer.

Walton Family Centre

Update From The Children’s Services manager for Spurgeons Elmbridge Family Centres

The Walton Family Centre (next to Grovelands School, Sandy Lane, Walton KT12 2EQ the brightly coloured gate) is open 08.30 to 16:00 – Monday to Friday

They have been receiving food donations all day and have sent out over a dozen parcels of food, treats and crafts today and more going tomorrow.

Please contact them if you are able to donate – they will buzz them in to drop in our collection crate, staff come gloved up and remove donations.

They are prioritising families with children, who have seen a change in income eg self employed, on unpaid leave or have no local support and are isolating.

The local food banks are still supporting low income families via referral.

If anyone needs our help, or wish to arrange dropping off a donation to us they can call on 01932 229103.

If they require donations we will leave a bag ready inside the gate with their name on ready, at a time we are expecting them.

They can ask someone to collect for them.

They have offers from people prepared to drop off for those self isolating and they are avoiding any direct contact.

Walton and Hersham Foodbank

As a result of the corona virus crisis, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our distribution centres at St Peters & St Johns. This is to protect the public and our wonderful volunteers and to allow us to abide by safe distancing directives.

From Monday 30th March we are distributing food via referral agencies only. If you have a voucher, please call the agency who issued the voucher to make alternative arrangements. If you need help, please check our website for contact info.

We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause and we really hope to be back to normal soon.

Thank you in advance for your patience while we ‘Stay Safe and Carry On’.

Action for Carers

Some shops are setting aside special times for older and vulnerable customers, including carers, to shop; as well as giving priority for on-line shopping deliveries and other community support.

In terms of identity, if you are over 70, your driving licence or similar should do. If you are a carer under 70, and registered with Action for Carers, give us a call on 0303 040 1234 and we can issue a letter.
