What happens when I join a Group?

As soon as you walk through the door of Slimming World in Hersham you can be assured of a warm welcome from Margaret and your fellow members. You can expect to feel good as soon as you decide to join; the people around you will become good friends who understand and appreciate that, just by walking through the door you have taken the hardest step of all.

During your first session Margaret will take time to introduce you Slimming World and Food Optimising. Then you will be invited to join the other members of the group to share ideas, recipes, inspirational stories and fun and laughter. We call this session IMAGE Therapy (IMAGE stands for Individual Motivation And Group Experience) – it is unique to Slimming World and it’s the most effective support system there is.

You’ll then be invited to get weighed (your weight always remains private and confidential) and you choose your own personal weight target.

Why am I so passionate about Slimming World?

I joined Slimming World in 2012 after a very stark health warning from my GP. I am a diabetic (Type 2) and my weight had ballooned to over 14 stones and I was a size 22. I was struggling to eat healthily and juggle my job as an Early Years teacher so as a result I would snack on unhealthy things during the day and compensate by trying to eat a healthy meal in the evening – without much success!

before-afterWalking through the door to Slimming World was one of the hardest things I ever did and I have the support from my son to thank for eventually getting me there. Now I am over four stones lighter and I am no longer on medication for my diabetes – I have completely reversed the symptoms of my diabetes – it is now totally controlled by Food Optimising.

It is the best thing I have ever done – no more starvation or faddy diets. I eat lots of my favourite foods, such as chilli, curries and my favourite cooked breakkie at the weekend! When I eat something in between meals I now choose lean meats or fruit to snack on. But as promised NO FOOD IS BANNED with Slimming World no I also enjoy eating out regularly as well as the odd piece of chocolate…and oh yes………a glass or two of Prosecco!
